Behavioural Optometry
Behavioural optometry is neuro developmental, preventative and rehabilitative vision care. It takes a holistic view of your visual performance and visual problems. Vision is regarded as an experience that involves the whole body.
Behavioural optometrists assess and treat functional and perceptual vision disorders in both children and adults of all ages. A variety of treatment methods are used, such as stress- relieving lenses, therapeutic lenses, tinted lenses (not Irlen lenses), prismatic lenses, patching therapy, and vision therapy. We also provide advice on ways to reduce visual stress and how to take better care of your vision.
We offer Visual Information Processing assessments for children with learning- related vision problems and individually tailored vision therapy programs to treat various visual conditions. Further assessment can be recommended where necessary, by referral to other allied health professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists and kinesiologists etc. depending on the needs of the child. We strive to help each, and every child reach their full visual potential and enhance their overall capacity for learning.
