Childrens Vision – Optometric Vision Therapy
Vision Therapy (VT) is an important part of behavioural optometry devoted to developing, improving, and enhancing a patient’s visual performance when spectacles alone are inadequate. It is used to improve the functions, co-ordination and processing of the visual system with other sensory processing skills.
In general, there is not an instant cure for a visual problem. Developing good vision and visual perceptual ability requires therapy tailored to the individual. It is important to develop the skills that may have been missed during development or have been affected due to other causes, e.g. Illness/ head injury/ trauma. Vision therapy is not “done” to an individual, but rather the individual gets to experience and develop their own skills through the guidance of a vision therapy program.
